Advancing Energy Security. Empowering Women. Protecting Communities. Creating Environmental Value.
An initiative of the Carbon Markets Association of India (CMAI).
The India Clean Cooking Alliance (ICCA) is an initiative of CMAI dedicated to accelerating access to clean, affordable and sustainable cooking solutions across India and beyond.
By bringing together industry, technology providers, government institutions, NGOs, investors, development organisations and community leaders, ICCA aims to transform household energy practices while advancing climate action, public well-being and inclusive development.
Through technology partnerships, community engagement, CSR collaboration, climate finance and end-to-end carbon project development, ICCA seeks to turn clean cooking into a scalable movement delivering measurable environmental and social value.
A future where every household has access to safe, affordable and sustainable cooking solutions, enabling healthier lives, stronger energy security, gender equality and environmental protection.
To accelerate clean cooking adoption by connecting communities with appropriate technologies, enabling strategic partnerships, mobilising resources and facilitating sustainable project development and financing.
Clean cooking is not just an energy transition. It is a pathway to a healthier population, a stronger climate future and more resilient communities.
Reducing exposure to harmful indoor air pollution by supporting the transition towards appropriate, cleaner cooking technologies.
Reducing the burden of fuel collection and traditional cooking practices while creating opportunities for women's participation, livelihoods and leadership.
Promoting suitable cooking-energy alternatives that strengthen household resilience and diversify energy options.
Supporting measurable emissions reductions through credible clean cooking projects, monitoring and appropriate carbon-market mechanisms.
Helping reduce pressure on biomass resources where cleaner solutions displace unsustainable fuel use.
Promoting locally appropriate solutions through inclusive engagement with tribal, indigenous, remote and underserved communities.
Advancing outcomes aligned with relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including clean energy, health, gender equality, climate action and ecosystem protection.
Facilitating connections with technology providers and implementation partners to explore suitable cooking solutions based on household needs, affordability, fuel availability and local conditions.
Working with NGOs, community organisations, local institutions and women's groups to build awareness, encourage adoption and support long-term usage.
Facilitating project identification, feasibility assessment, methodology screening, documentation planning, monitoring frameworks and connections with relevant technical experts.
Connecting corporates and CSR stakeholders with potential clean cooking programmes that can support community development, environmental objectives and measurable social impact, subject to applicable CSR requirements.
Helping eligible projects explore carbon-credit mechanisms, climate finance, impact investment and other potential funding pathways to improve project viability and scalability.
Facilitating dialogue among industry, policymakers, institutions and other stakeholders to address barriers to adoption and promote enabling frameworks.
Encouraging technology partnerships, project assessments and robust monitoring of household adoption, fuel displacement, emissions and relevant environmental and social outcomes.
ICCA provides a collaborative platform for organisations seeking to contribute to clean cooking access and climate action.
