Policy research and advocacy

Climate change has been gaining momentum in India. COP 26 witnessed an aggressive approach by India towards combating climate change. All the five goals outlined by India are more ambitious than those agreed upon in Paris Accord. This aggressive approach marks India’s seriousness in combating climate change.

This renewed focus towards controlling GHG emissions and moving towards carbon neutrality, with specific milestone / targets brings the much-needed uncertainty in India’ climate change policy. To achieve this, it is imperative that the country establishes a strategic and definitive roadmap along with policy frameworks. This will enable India to drive targeted efforts to achieve its net-zero commitment of 2070 and transform India into a sustainable, low-carbon country with a high-growth economy.

India’s carbon market is still at an elementary stage and there is an urgent need for regulatory frameworks and policy guidelines that provide clear mandates on emission reductions. As industry experts, we can empower this journey with our recommendations and advocacy for the development of robust policy guidelines across a range of topics including incentivization, compliances, accreditation, skill imparting and innovation.
